Heavy-duty excavator boom and arm cylinders for a major construction fleet operator

The customer operated a fleet of 120 excavators on large-scale infrastructure projects in the UAE. Extreme ambient temperatures (up to +50°C), fine desert sand contamination, and very high daily duty cycles were causing premature seal failures in their existing cylinders, resulting in costly equipment downtime and frequent on-site oil leaks.

Hengshui's engineering team specified FKM (Viton) seals rated to +150°C with enhanced wiper seals and scrapers designed for abrasive-dust environments. Rod chrome thickness was increased to 30μm (vs. standard 25μm) for additional corrosion and abrasion resistance. All cylinders were pressure-tested at 525 bar (1.5× rated) and supplied with a full set of spare seal kits.

Seal life improved from an average of 900 operating hours to over 3,500 hours. The customer placed a standing annual order for 480 cylinders per year across their fleet maintenance programme.

Custom positioning cylinders for automated press lines at a metal forming plant

Tie-rod cylinders, Ø80mm bore × 400mm stroke, 250 bar, with integrated position feedback sensor interface

A German machine builder required precision positioning cylinders for integration into CNC-controlled metal forming press lines. The cylinders needed to meet strict European quality documentation requirements (EN 10204 3.1 material certificates, conformity declaration) and deliver sub-millimetre repeatability under cyclic loading at 120 cycles per minute.

Hengshui produced a fully documented OEM cylinder with EN 10204 3.1 material certs for all steel components, PTFE composite seals for low friction and consistent breakout force, and customer-specified port and mounting interfaces designed to fit directly into the existing machine frame. All dimensional data was provided in a CMM inspection report for each batch.

The cylinders were integrated into three press lines totalling 48 units. The machine builder reported zero non-conformances over 18 months of production operation and has since expanded the programme to a second facility. Hengshui is now approved as their qualified cylinder supplier for all new press line projects.

Underground longwall support legs and prop cylinders for coal mining equipment

High-pressure yielding prop cylinders, Ø320mm bore × 1,200mm stroke, 500 bar rated, water-glycol fluid compatible seals

A Russian mining equipment manufacturer required hydraulic prop cylinders rated for 500 bar working pressure with compatibility for HFC (water-glycol) hydraulic fluid — a requirement driven by fire safety regulations in underground coal mines. The cylinders also needed to operate reliably at underground temperatures as low as +5°C and pass mandatory Russian GOST safety certification.

Hengshui produced 27SiMn alloy steel cylinders with wall thickness calculated for 500 bar operation, PTFE/FKM composite seals specified for HFC fluid compatibility, and all internal surfaces finished to prevent corrosion in a water-based fluid environment. Complete GOST-compatible documentation including material certs, weld records, and hydrostatic test certificates were provided to support the customer's certification submission.

An initial order of 200 cylinder sets passed third-party inspection and received regulatory approval. The customer confirmed an annual supply agreement for 800 sets per year across three coal mine operations. Cylinder service life in situ has exceeded the target of 5,000 operating hours.

Loader arm and implement lift cylinders for a Brazilian agricultural equipment manufacturer

A Brazilian OEM manufacturer of front-end loaders and farm implements was looking to reduce cylinder costs without compromising reliability. Their existing European cylinder supplier had long lead times and limited flexibility for product modifications. They required strict private-label branding and were concerned about quality consistency across high-volume orders.

Hengshui supplied a range of 12 cylinder models under the customer's private label, with all nameplates, part number stencils, and paint colours matching their branding guidelines exactly. A dedicated production line was established for this customer's models, and a quality agreement was signed committing to a maximum AQL 1.0 defect rate. Bi-annual factory audits by the customer's QA representative were accommodated.

After an initial trial order of 500 units, the customer transitioned their full cylinder supply to Hengshui — approximately 3,200 units per year across the product range. Cost savings versus previous supplier exceeded 22% at equivalent quality levels. Lead time reduced from 16 weeks (Europe) to 6 weeks (China).

Clamping and pressing cylinders for a Vietnamese furniture and woodworking equipment manufacturer

A fast-growing Vietnamese machine builder needed a reliable, competitively priced supply of compact hydraulic cylinders for their woodworking press and clamping machine product lines. They lacked the internal engineering resources to specify cylinders themselves and required a supplier capable of providing technical selection support alongside competitive pricing.

Hengshui's sales engineer conducted a full technical consultation, mapping the customer's machine designs to the most appropriate cylinder models from our standard catalogue — saving the customer significant engineering time. A framework agreement was established with monthly call-off orders from agreed stock levels held at our Wuxi warehouse, ensuring 2-week delivery against a rolling forecast.

The customer grew from a first order of 80 units to purchasing over 1,400 units per year within 30 months. Hengshui is now their exclusive hydraulic cylinder supplier across 7 product lines. The customer has also engaged Hengshui for OEM cylinders for two new machine models currently in development.

Valve actuator cylinders for an onshore pipeline control system

Stainless steel 316L double-acting cylinders, Ø63mm bore × 200mm stroke, 350 bar, FKM seals, NPT ports, BV certified

A Saudi Arabian pipeline engineering company required valve actuator cylinders for a sour gas (H₂S-containing) natural gas pipeline system. The application demanded full 316L stainless steel construction for H₂S corrosion resistance, Bureau Veritas third-party certification, and compliance with NACE MR0175 material standards. Standard carbon steel cylinders were entirely unsuitable.

Hengshui manufactured fully stainless steel cylinders — tube, rod, end caps, ports, and all fasteners — in 316L grade, with NACE-compliant material certificates from a BV-approved steel mill. Cylinder design was reviewed and certified by Bureau Veritas, and all welding was conducted by qualified welders with weld procedure qualification records included in the documentation package.

The 150-unit order passed BV inspection with zero non-conformances and was delivered within the client's 10-week project schedule. The engineering firm has since specified Hengshui as their approved cylinder supplier for two further pipeline projects in the region.
